Everything You Need To Know About Resort
Les Gets is a village resort in Haute-Savoie, set in the Chablais massif between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The village sits at 1,172 metres on a sunny mountain pass, with a compact centre where most day-to-day services are close together. A weekly market is held in the village every Thursday morning, year-round (08:00 until 12:00).
Skiing is organised on two distinct sides of the village: Les Chavannes and Mont Chéry. Les Chavannes is the main gateway into the wider Portes du Soleil, while Mont Chéry is a separate sector that offers panoramic views towards the Mont Blanc range. From the top of the Mont Chéry cable car, a short, marked route continues to the 1,848-metre summit.
For local skiing, Les Gets is lift-linked with Morzine, forming the Les Gets–Morzine ski area. This area has 120km of marked slopes (74 runs), served by 50 lifts, plus 15 fun zones. The piste mix is designed for a wide range of abilities, with beginner zones and marked Nordic itineraries on the Mont Chéry and Les Chavannes sides.
Families will find several dedicated areas. The Territoire du Grand Cry is aimed at children aged five to twelve, and combines themed pistes, teepees, games and a picnic area, with activities that can include treasure-hunt style entertainment. For several years, Les Gets has held the Famille Plus label: a certification given to ski resorts that provide an excellent service for families with children.
With a Portes du Soleil pass, skiers can access 12 Franco-Swiss resorts in France and Switzerland. The Portes du Soleil has 600km of slopes served by 208 lifts, with an altitude range from 900m to 2,460m. On the Les Chavannes side, the resort also promotes viewpoints such as the Ranfoilly platform, which provides panoramic views towards Mont Blanc.
Off the slopes, Les Gets offers five secured sledging slopes around the village. The resort also promotes ‘yooner’ descents: a seated sled designed for use on pistes. Other winter activities offered locally include dog-sled experiences, snowshoeing and paragliding, alongside indoor options such as bowling, cinema and a library. An outdoor ice rink is located in the village and is run as a winter facility with published seasonal opening dates and hours.
For culture and heritage, the Mechanical Music Museum is one of the village’s signature visits. Its collection includes a wooden merry-go-round dating from 1871 (the oldest known model in France) and an Aeolian Philharmonic Organ listed as a historic monument in 1989. Alta Lumina is an illuminated night walk through the forest. In 2012, Les Gets was awarded the UNESCO Chablais Geopark label due to its peat bogs. Les Gets is also part of the wider Portes du Soleil region, which is perfect for mountain biking and walking in summer.
